A selection of screenshots direct and unedited from FSX, showing the 20 variations of WDS trees in their summer form. These trees will be used to populate each WDS airport and the surrounding scenery, utilizing HDX technology, providing the ultimate in visual realism.

These trees, form part of WDS 'Core', an extensive library of items which will populate each WDS airport. 'Core' is made up of trees and vegatation, vehicles, buildings, GSE and clutter etc, so expect more previews of other 'Core' content soon!

Thanks for your comments, the FPS hit is minimal due to they way they will be implemented, I wont quote figures but will produce a video soon to show them in sim with FPS counter visible, along with some other things i'm working on for the 'Core' content.

I'm not worried about FPS, but won't VAS usage go through the roof with these trees?

Dont worry about VAS usage, these tree's textures even with the 5 different texture sets for 5 seasons, comes in at less than 80MB total. Seeing as only one season's texture are ever active at a time, these tree's textures only require 15MB [smile]

Brilliant stuff. Looking forward to the release. Quick question: is this meant to be a replacement of autogen?

Yes, these tree's (and custom buildings) will populate the photo-real ground textures around the airports, much like autogen.

This looks very good indeed. Always thought the trees were a little lacking in photorealism in FSX. This looks like a winner already.

Finally, trees that look like living things instead of paper cut-outs.

Is this project FSX-only, or will it work in P3D2+ also?

These trees are still simple 'cross plane' type, anything more on such a large scale placement would compromise performance, but the high resolution textures vastly increase the realism, as you can see.

Everything being developed is designed for use in both FSX and P3D2+

Hello Russ, I just recently have seen what X-plane can do.  Quite frankly, every single Frustration FSX has given me, seems to be a non issue in X-Plane.  There is a scenery conversion tool for migrating FSX scenery to X-Plane.  Some Scenery's convert without issue, others well......  I wonder if you might be convinced to give X-Plane 10 64 bit a little love with your stuff? -Woog
